Golf Club Hot List

Posted on April 03, 2012

Each Spring brings the much anticipated debut of many new clubs to the market. 2012 is certainly no different and the golf shop is offering, what I believe, the best performing and most sought after models. Obviously the TV viewer is bombarded with commercials and claims that this product, or that product, will do amazing things for your golf game. I believe some have merit and others are less than hyped up to be.

These clubs make my hot list! Ping g20 and i20 woods, hybrids and irons along with the women's Faith model are outstanding. The Taylor Made Rocketballz fairway metals and hybrids will be extremely popular with the players that can launch the ball at a nice trajectory. If you struggle hitting the ball high off the turf, the Taylor Made fairway metal will not necessarily give you that 17 yards extra they advertise. Mizuno has the most forgiving and longest iron I have seen. The JPX 800 and 800 HL are outstanding golf clubs if you are looking for game improvement irons with extra distance. Titleist AP1 and AP2 irons are new and improved this season for those that enjoy the look of a traditional club but want a club easier to hit. We can fit you for any of these products to prove that they are an improvement over what you are playing.

Drivers are always the club everyone anticipates will be their saving grace. Again Ping G20 and I20, along with the Callaway Razor Fit driver is my top choice. Taylor Made R11S and Rocketballz are good, but I do not see a major improvement from past models. Hybrids from Adams and Taylor Made will be the clubs of choice for many in this category with many lofts available to fit the gaps in your set.

Don't forget about the putter. Last season many of you witnessed the start of anchored or belly putters hitting the scene in a big way. I believe the trend will continue. However, you must be fit correctly for this type putter and you must learn the mechanics of this stroke. You will not be able to just pick this club up and start making putts without a little guidance. Let me help you with picking the correct model, length and stroke that will help you on the greens. We will carry Ping, Scotty Cameron and Odyssey mid and long length putters this season.

I hope this helps you with the mysteries of golf clubs this season. Demo's and fitting are always available and a necessary step to improving your equipment and your game.
